I’m sure many of you are familiar with MAC’s popular recycling program: Back to MAC. If you’re not, let me give you a quick rundown.
MAC encourages their customers to recycle their primary packaging once the products are used. To help give their customers an incentive they started the Back to MAC program. You can bring in 6 empties (lipsticks, depotted shadows, skincare containers, compacts) anything that has the “Back to MAC” logo on the packaging, and walk away with a free lipstick. Travel sizes are not included, but I keep mine anyway just in case they decide to change the policy 🙂 Look for this logo on the box:
That’s a pretty cool deal, right? I think so. If you are in the US/Canada, you can return to any MAC counter and receive any lipstick (minus limited editions or Viva Glam). If you B2M at a free standing store you can choose any lipstick, lipglass, or single shadow.
Unfortunately, internationally their policies are a little different. I took my empties with me to a local MAC store and was given a small box that contained about 15-20 slightly different shades and finishes of pinks and neutrals. Huh. So, what you’re saying is I can’t choose any color? Lady Danger is off limits? That’s a bummer. I walked away with Please Me, a matte finish muted pink which I still really like.*Option: check out a few counters because the colors do vary, but don’t be afraid to try a new shade for a different style. It’s free, remember?
However, I continued to collect my empties and brought them in my suitcase when I traveled back home. I walked away with a free shadow (All That Glitters), lipstick (CB 96), and lipglass (Liquer).

Don’t limit my choices. Nothing will stand in my way when it comes to free makeup. Nothing.
