Everyone in their brother does a haul. I’m tired of the word. Often I’ll use it out of convenience because others use it and we can easily identify the meaning among the makeup blogsphere. But bonanza. There’s a word. Defined as “a large amount of something good within a short period of time”; that pretty much sums up my makeup life! So here’s my new Beauty Bonanza: The Colourpop Edition.
Catch up here if you missed my last Colourpop post and want to know more about this killer cosmetics company out of LA.
I’m lucky enough to have friends and family who love me and support my makeup hobby (read: addiction). They are kind enough to gather my precious boxes and tote them back to me in their precious luggage space. After waiting for a couple months, I finally have my goodies gathered and I’m like a kid on Christmas morning. Let me just say, the wait was worth it! I’m swooning over everything. Let’s get started. *Note: I didn’t edit the photos so colors are true to life*
First thing I was so excited about was the quad by Kathleen Lights (pictured above in front of Eiger mountain in Switzerland!). It is inspired and beautiful. The colors and textures are so easy to blend and work with, regardless of your level of makeup experience. They are warm tones and perfect for fall. Bronze smoky eyes, here I come!
Loving Kathleen and trusting her judgment, I also picked up her Lumiere lip pencil. I opted for just the pencil as I tend to use them more and wanted to test the color. I will probably pick up the lippie stick in the future. It’s a great rosy nude lip and will make a nice base for mixing colors.
I also picked up a bunch of other lippie products including a couple of their new sheer colors (Tiger, Kiddo, and Juice Bar), their primer (let’s see how it compares to Mac’s Prep+Prime), and the smashing “greige” color, Tootsie. Keep your eyes on these cool toned grey beige colors as they will be all over the cosmetics world FW2015/16. Monkey is a hyper gloss finished and neither my friend nor I were impressed. It really settles in lip lines and is just a little funky looking.
As for shadows, I also picked up Smash, a stain finish neutral warm beige that has a gorgeous glow. Perfect all over the lid and appropriate for all occasions. I also received Birthday Girl, their limited edition color to celebrate Colourpop’s big first birthday as a free gift with purchase.
I needed to try their new blush/highlighters as well, so I picked up Aphrodisiac a matte finish blush I used for a light contouring (similar to Mac Harmony blush but pinker in color). Lunch Money is the highlighter and it’s gorgeous! The texture is light and creamy but doesn’t melt off your face.
Well, there we go. 6 shadows, 7 lippie products, a highlighter and a blush. Want to see color swatches? Pop over to my Instagram account @7seasonsstyle. Have you been bitten by the Colourpop bug? They are such a reasonable price point for the quality and pigmentation. Go wild. You won’t regret it!
