How to Rock a Kbeauty Expo like a #girlboss

With expo season just around the corner I thought I’d share my tips and tricks to handle them like a #girlboss! Beauty trade shows in the epicenter of the global skincare market are not for the faint of heart. They bring industry professionals and visitors from all over the world who want to experience the biggest cutting edge trends in the market. If you go in with the right mindset you’re sure to have an amazing experience.

1. Get there early (and pre-register)

Most shows offer pre-registration and I highly suggest doing that! The paper registration areas can be a bit chaotic on the day of the shows, so a little preparation beforehand and you can skip that hassle (and usually get in for free). The lines will still be crazy long to enter so have patience and take some deep breaths. Every expo I’ve attended for the last 3 years has been wildly unorganized (and understaffed) regarding entry so just expect it and  you won’t be disappointed. The top 3 include Cosmo Beauty Seoul, K-Beauty Expo, and Intercharm Beauty Expo.

2. Bring cash (and a tote!)

Not all booths have items for sale, but a lot do. That being said most prefer cash and not all have card readers so stop by the ATM and save yourself some time to run back outside. Also, bring a sturdy tote bag because you will buy more than you plan and will need to carry everything!

3. B2B vs B2C

Keep in mind it is a trade show, so the booths cover every aspect of business from manufacturing and ingredients, to packaging and production, to final products. Not all booths will even have products for the end consumer, so don’t be alarmed if you see your favorite brand being advertised but not available. Many companies promote they manufacture or distribute for various brands.

4. Know the names

You favorite brand names might be found under the booth of a different name. For example, Glamfox is the awesome color-changing jelly lipstick, but their booth is under Kyulgoun People Co.,Ltd. That’s the parent company of the brand. So don’t be confused if you don’t recognize brand names. You need to research their parent company. PS. It’s extra fun when you see your face on brand materials!

5. Make a list

Along with knowing the names of the parent companies, I recommend reviewing the website a few days before and making a list of what you want to see. Otherwise you will be overwhelmed as there are usually 300-500 booths in multiple halls. It’s skincare focused but each year I see more colored cosmetics. W.Lab makes awesome cosmetics–cushions, lipsticks, and eyeshadow palettes are well pigmented! If you stop by tell them 7 Seasons Style says hi!

6. Have fun and be nice.

Most booths also have an English speaking staff member, so don’t hesitate to talk with them, as questions about products, or test out what they are offering. Some places have samples, some don’t. Never demand samples or free products from the vendors (I’ve seen it in the past!) Be kind, smile, and chat, and you’ll have an awesome time!
